Côte d’Ivoire launches tenders for 200 MW of solar plus storage

Côte d’Ivoire’s state-owned utility Ci-Energies has launched two tenders for the development of two solar power plants totalling 200 MW. Each project will be connected to 33 MWh of storage capacity. Bids can be submitted until 25 July 2025. Ci-Energies is tendering a 100 MW solar project in Dabakala, in northeastern Côte d’Ivoire, as well as another 100 MW project in Niakaramandougou, in the center of the country. The selected developers will sign 25-year power purchase agreements (PPAs) for the projects.

As of end-2023, Côte d’Ivoire only had about 46 MW of installed solar capacity. Côte d’Ivoire plans to increase the share of renewables (including hydropower) in power generation to 45% by 2030 (about 25% in 2023, mainly from hydropower).
