SJVN and NTPC invite bids for 2.5 GW of wind-solar hybrid capacity across India

SJVN Green Energy, a subsidiary of the Indian company SJVN, has launched a tender to develop 1.5 GW of Interstate Transmission System (ISTS)-connected wind and solar hybrid power projects across India. Bids can be submitted until 19 March 2024 and selected bidders will enter a 25-year power purchase agreement (PPA) with SJVN. Bidders must offer a minimum capacity of 50 MW, while the maximum was set at 750 MW for one bidder.

In addition, NTPC Renewable Energy, a subsidiary of India’s NTPC, has launched another tender for the development of 1 GW of ISTS-connected wind-solar hybrid projects anywhere in India under Tranche-V, with or without energy storage. Bids can be submitted until 27 February 2024, and the minimum capacity for one bidder was also set at 50 MW.

At the end of 2022, solar and wind accounted for 22% of installed capacity in India, with respectively 63 GW and 42 GW, while hydropower capacity surpassed 51 GW. India plans to increase its non-fossil fuel capacity to 500 GW.
