Five developers submit contracts to develop 2.7 GW of offshore wind in Taiwan

Taiwan’s Ministry of Economic Affairs (MOE) has announced that the developers of all five projects that were awarded capacity in Taiwan’s latest offshore wind tender (round 3.2) have submitted their development contracts to the Taiwanese Government.

The five projects, originally awarded in August 2024, total 2.7 GW in offshore wind capacity. They are Synera Renewable Energy Group’s 800 MW Formosa 6 project, Shinfox's 700 MW Youde project, Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners' 600 MW Fengmiao 2 project, Corio and TotalEnergies’ 360 MW Formosa 3 project and Enervest’s 240 MW Deshuai project. Grid connection for the round 3.2 projects is expected between 2028 and 2030.

Taiwan aims to reach 5.7 GW of offshore wind capacity by the end of 2025. The offshore wind target was extended in 2019 to 10 GW between 2026 and 2035 and again in 2021 to 15 GW by 2035. Offshore wind capacity amounted to 2.5 GW at the end of 2024, accounting for 4% of the country’s total installed capacity (64 GW).
