The Ministry of Energy of Argentina has opened a national and international tender for developing 700 MW of BESS projects in strategic nodes in the Argentine regions NOA, NEA, Centro, Litoral, Cuyo and the province of Buenos Aires, excluding the Metropolitan Area of Buenos Aires (AMBA). Total investments are estimated at USD700m.
In September 2025, the Ministry of Energy had awarded ten BESS projects (713 MW) in the Buenos Aires Metropolitan Area under the AlmaGBA bidding process, that initially sought 500 MW but attracted 27 bids totalling 1,347 MW.
