UK's Drax has announced the signature of a 15-year tolling agreement with Zenobe for multiple BESS projects at Coalburn, Scotland (UK), totalling 200 MW/800 MWh. The targeted date of commissioning for the projects is in 2028.
Drax will have full operational control and will provide no upfront capital cost. Construction, maintenance and availability risk sits with Zenobe. Drax is developing a GW scale pipeline of BESS opportunities comprised of physical assets and the capabilities to optimise owned and third-party assets.
The projects align with the UK's objectives of energy security and decarbonisation.
