Wyoming (US) clears PacifiCorp's plans to build 1.15 GW of wind power

The Wyoming Public Service Commission (WSC, United States) has approved PacifiCorp's wind power and transmission expansion plans in the state, which comprises the construction of three wind parks with a total combined capacity of 1,150 MW and a 225-km long power transmission line. The construction of the three projects is scheduled to start in 2019, once all the required approvals are granted, and will represent about a 60% expansion of PacifiCorp’s current owned and contracted wind fleet.

PacifiCorp is present in six American states and consists of two business units: Pacific Power which is present in Oregon, Washington and California; and Rocky Mountain Power, present in Utah, Wyoming and Idaho. Under the framework of its long-term plan unveiled in April 2017, the company announced a US$3.5bn expansion plan up to 2020 and will build over 3 GW of additional capacity by 2036, of which 1,150 MW of wind power and 1,040 additional solar capacity to be constructed between 2028 and 2036.
