The Australian energy group Woodside Energy has announced that its ammonia plant in Beaumont, Texas (US) has started production, after completing system testing (Woodside Energy press release, 29/12/2025). This represents a step forward towards the commercial start of the facility.
The project, with a production capacity of 1.1 Mt/year, is expected to begin commercial operations in 2026, with low-carbon ammonia production scheduled for the second half of the year. Deliveries of conventional ammonia to contracted buyers are expected for 2027, while low-carbon ammonia sales agreements are being negotiated.
