The Danish wind turbine manufacturer Vestas has signed a deal with developers ESB and Red Rock Renewables to supply wind turbines for the 1,080 MW Inch Cape offshore wind project, located off eastern Scotland (United Kingdom). The contract is for the supply, installation and commissioning of a total of 72 V236 turbines, each with a capacity of 15 MW.
The project’s financial close is set for late 2024, while completion of the wind park is expected for 2027. In September 2024, The UK’s SSE Energy Markets signed a 15-year power purchase agreement (PPA) with Inch Cape Offshore Limited to offtake electricity from the project.
The UK aims to reach up to 50 GW of installed offshore wind capacity by 2030, up from 14.7 GW at the end of 2023.
