Vendée's prefecture clears Noirmoutier offshore wind park (France)

French wind power project company EMYN (Eoliennes en Mer Iles d’Yeu et de Noirmoutier) has received the required prefectoral authorization to move forward with the 496 MW Noirmoutier-Yeu offshore wind park, to be located off the islands of Yeu and Noirmoutier in western France. The company may now move forward with preparing the construction of the project and proceeding with the calls to tender for subcontractors to manufacture and install the wind park's components.

Once built, the wind park will deliver 1,900 GWh/year. It will include 62 Siemens Gamesa wind turbines rated 8 MW each and is set to become operational between 2021 and 2023.

The project is supported by the French energy group Engie and the renewable branch of Portuguese energy utility EDP, EDP Renovaveis (EDPR). Its developer EMYN is held by Engie (47%), EDPR (43%) and the Groupe Caisse des Dépôts (10%).
