The Swedish company Vattenfall has decided to take part in the Hollandse Kust (Zuid) Wind Farm Zone (HKZWFZ) offshore wind power tender (Netherlands). The company has committed itself to investing €2bn over the 2017-2018 period and wishes to expand its offshore wind portfolio. The auction will be open from 15 December 2017 till 21 December 2017 and interested bidders may submit a bid for the construction of wind capacity without subsidies. In the event this tender procedure fails to yield an acceptable bid, a tender procedure including subsidies will then be initiated.
The tender will cover 356 km² off the west coast of the Netherlands and comprise two sites large enough to install 342 to 380 MW each, one at Site I of the zone and the other at Site II. The location is estimated to have good wind conditions and can offer synergies with Vattenfall's neighbouring wind park Egmond aan Zee.
