Vår Energi has confirmed an oil discovery in the Goliat North exploration well in the Barents Sea, off Norway (Vår Energi press release, 04/12/2025). Located at 5 km north of the Goliat field operated by Vår Energi the exploration has an estimated gross recoverable resources of up to 5 Mboe.
Vår Energi (operator, 65%) and Equinor (35%) plan to do an appraisal on the potential of the Goliat Ridge once the companies finish drilling four wells on the area. The Goliat Ridge has estimated gross discovered resources of 39 to 108 Mboe, with the potential to rise to up to 200 Mboe. The discoveries are expected to get connected to the Goliat FPSO.
