The UK Government has revealed a budget exceeding GBP1bn (€1.2bn) for the contracts for difference (CfD) allocation round 6 (AR6) for renewable energy projects, being the largest budget allocation for a single CfD auction to date.
In April 2023, the government committed to fully decarbonise the power system by 2035, including the development of up to 50 GW of offshore wind by 2030 (5 GW of which is floating offshore wind).
