The UAE’s ADNOC signs deal to supply 1 Mt/year of LNG to Malaysia’s Petronas

The Emirati company ADNOC has signed a sales and purchase agreement (SPA) with the Malaysian oil and gas company Petronas, under which it will deliver 1 Mt/year of LNG to Malaysia for a period of 15-years. The LNG will primarily be sourced from the 9.6 Mt/year Ruwais LNG project, which is currently under development in Al Ruwais Industrial City (Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates), with deliveries expected to start in 2028 when the project becomes operational.

The Ruwais LNG plant will consist of two 4.8 Mt/year LNG liquefaction trains that will more than double ADNOC’s LNG production capacity. So far, over 8 Mt/year of Ruwais LNG project’s production capacity has been committed to international customers through long-term agreements. ADNOC has already signed deals with several companies for the supply of gas from Ruwais LNG, namely Germany’s SEFE, India’s IOC, Japan’s Osaka Gas and China’s ENN.
