Türkiye’s Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources has launched a new YEKA tender to procure 800 MW of solar capacity. The six tendered solar projects are located in the regions of Karapinar (385 MW), Karaman (200 MW), Malatya (75 MW), Van (60 MW), Antalya and Kütahya (40 MW each). The initial ceiling price for the tender is set at US$5.5c/kWh, with a base price of US$3.25c/kWh applicable to each project. Bids can be submitted until 27 January 2025.
In late October 2024, Türkiye’s Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources opened another tender also part of the YEKA RES-2024, seeking to auction five wind projects in three provinces with a total combined capacity of 1.2 GW and with the same base and ceiling prices. The projects are located in the provinces of Edirne (410 MW), Kırklareli (the 340 MW Balkaya project and the 200 MW Sergen project) and Sivas (the 160 MW Yellice and the 90 MW Gürün projects).
Under the 2022-2035 National Energy Plan, Türkiye aims to add an average of about 5 GW/year of renewable energy capacity, including 3.1 GW of solar power and 1.4 GW of wind. The country plans to hold YEKA tenders for at least 2 GW every year until 2035, to reach 120 GW of installed wind and solar capacity in 2035.
