Türkiye launches 2.4 GW auctions for wind and solar projects

Türkiye has launched a new tender under its Renewable Energy Resource Area (YEKA) programme, offering 2.4 GW of renewable energy capacity and opening new investment opportunities for developers in large-scale wind and solar projects (Turkish Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources, 11/07/2026). The tender is structured into 21 separate auctions. Of the total capacity, 1.5 GW is allocated across seven onshore wind projects located in Sivas, Balıkesir, Manisa and Kütahya, while the remaining 900 MW will be awarded through 14 solar projects in Ankara, Batman, Denizli, Konya, Malatya, Mardin, Diyarbakır, Elazığ, and Kahramanmaraş.

For both wind and solar projects, the maximum bid price has been set at EUR5.5c/kWh. The minimum bid price is EUR3.25c/kWh for solar projects and EUR3.5c/kWh for wind projects. Companies wishing to participate in the auction must submit their applications by 13 October 2026.

The tender also features a flexible commercial framework designed to strengthen project economics. Solar developers selected through the auction will be permitted to sell electricity on the open market for up to 60 months before the start of their long-term contracts, while wind developers will benefit from a 72-month market period. After this initial phase, all projects will transition to a 20-year power purchase agreement (PPA), ensuring stable and predictable revenues based on the final auction price.

The country aims to reach 120 GW of solar and wind in its electricity capacity by 2035. According to our data, at the end of 2025, Türkiye had over 25 GW of solar (20% of power installed capacity) and nearly 15 GW of wind (12%) (Enerdata Global Energy Research).
