The Turkish Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources has selected five onshore wind projects totalling 1,200 MW at a price of US$3.5c/KWh, the lowest possible guaranteed price, as part of the YEKA RES-2024 tender for wind power plants. In addition to the bid prices, companies competed by offering contribution shares, starting at US$10,000/MW of the predetermined capacity. The auction was largely oversubscribed, as Turkish authorities received 18 times more demand than the capacity offered. The wining projects are securing grid connections for 49 years, a minimum price during the six-year open market sale period and a guaranteed price for another 20 years.
Two projects in Edirne and Kırklareli provinces with a respective capacity of 410 MW and 340 MW were awarded to Enerjisa Üretim, a joint venture between E.ON (Germany) and Sabanci (Türkiye). Three other projects were won by RT Enerji (200 MW Sergen), Efor Holding (160 MW Yellice) and ADY Akdeniz (90 MW Gürün). The projects are expected to generate 4.5 TWh/year.
