The Turkish Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources has awarded 850 MW of wind power capacity, spread between 9 Turkish companies and 20 projects, in the latest round of the country’s Renewable Energy Resources Zone (YEKA) tender programme.
Eksim Enerji was awarded 260 MW (6 projects), Kalyon Enerji 160 MW (3 projects), Kalen Enerji 100 MW (3 projects) and Asiyan Enerji 170 MW (3 projects). Five other companies share the remaining 160 MW among 5 projects.
The lowest bid for any of the projects was made by Eksim Enerji, which offered TRY40.8c/kWh (€2.2c/kWh) for a 70 MW project in the provinces of Karaman and Mersin. The same company also made the highest bid: TRY77.8c/kWh (€4.3c/kWh) for a 30 MW project in the provinces of Siirt, Sirnak and Hakkari.
Turkey possessed 10.6 GW of installed wind capacity in 2021 (+20% compared to 2020) and produced 31 TWh of power from wind (+26% compared to 2020). The country aims at producing 50% of its electricity from renewables in 2023 (42% in 2020).
