Turkey allocates 700 MW of solar PV projects in its latest YEKA tender

Turkey has allocated 700 MW of solar PV projects in the second tranche of its 1 GW Renewable Energy Resources Zone (YEKA) 4 PV tender programme, which was originally launched in July 2021. The Turkish Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources selected two 100 MW projects and 10 projects with installed capacities of 50 MW each. The final prices for the 12 projects ranged from TRY49c/kWh (€2.8c/kWh) to TRY59.7c/kWh (€3.4c/kWh). The selected projects will receive 15-year power purchase guarantees.

In the first tranche of the YEKA 4 solar tender, Turkey selected three 100 MW projects in April 2022. The three developers offered TRY37.5c/kWh (€2.2c), TRY39c/kWh (€2.2c), and TRY42.7c/kWh (€2.5c) for them. Turkey also recently awarded 850 MW of wind power capacity, spread between 9 Turkish companies and 20 projects, in the latest round of the country’s YEKA tender.

Turkey possessed 7.8 GW of installed solar capacity in 2021 (+16% compared to 2020) and produced 13 TWh of power from solar (+18% compared to 2020). The country aims at producing 50% of its electricity from renewables in 2023 (42% in 2020).
