Tunisia’s Ministry of Industry, Mines and Energy has launched a tender for the construction of a 300 MW solar PV power plant integrating a 150 MW/540 MWh BESS (Tunisian government press release, 06/03/2026). The project is expected to be developed under a concession regime in a 440-ha area at Bazma, in Kebili, Nefzaoua region (Tunisia). Interested independent power producers will have time until 14 October 2026 to submit their offers.
The tender is aligned with the framework of Tunisia’s National Renewable Energy Development Program. In 2022, the Ministry of Industry, Mines, and Energy issued three tenders to develop 1.7 GW of solar and wind projects over 2023-2025. In December 2024, it awarded the first four solar PV projects (500 MW), due to be commissioned in 2027 and in January 2025, it launched a tender for 200 MW of solar PV under the concession regime.
According to Enerdata’s Global Energy & CO2 data, Tunisia had an installed capacity of 6.9 GW of which solar represented about 11% with 770 MW (end of 2024).
