TrueRE Oriana Power has been awarded two contracts by Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Co. Ltd. (MSEDCL) to develop a combined 900 MW/1,800 MWh of battery energy storage system (BESS) capacity across the Indian state of Maharashtra. The projects have a total consideration of approximately INR 3,870 crore (USD404m) over a 15-year period, excluding GST (TrueRE Oriana Power announcement, 22/09/2026).
The awarded capacity comprises a standalone 500 MW/1,000 MWh BESS project at MSETCL substations, with a tariff of INR 238,000/MW/month (USD2,485/MW/month), and a 400 MW/800 MWh BESS project at MSEDCL substations, with a tariff of INR 240,000/MW/month (USD2,507/MW/month). Both projects fall under the Mukhyamantri Saur Krushi Vahini Yojana 2.0 (MSKVY 2.0), Maharashtra’s programme for the decentralised solarisation of agricultural feeders.
The projects will operate under battery energy storage purchase agreements (BESPAs) for 15 years from their respective commercial operation dates. Their scheduled commissioning dates will be established in accordance with the relevant BESPAs, which have yet to be executed.
The awards form part of MSEDCL’s broader 2 GW/4 GWh BESS tender in India.
