France’s energy group TotalEnergies and South Korea’s national natural gas company KOGAS have signed of a Heads of Agreement (HoA) for the delivery of 1 Mt/year of LNG from TotalEnergies' global LNG supply portfolio to South Korea over a 10-year period starting at the end of 2027. Awarded to TotalEnergies by KOGAS following an international tender, this contract will increase the LNG volume supplied by TotalEnergies to KOGAS to 3 Mt/year from 2028 onward.
The news follows TotalEnergies’ recent upstream developments in Africa, including the award of a new offshore exploration permit in the Republic of Congo and the signing of a production-sharing contract (PSC) in Nigeria in early September 2025. In Congo, the company will operate the Nzombo block with a 50% stake, alongside QatarEnergy (35%) and Congo national oil company SNPC (15%). In Nigeria, the PSC covers offshore licences 2000 and 2001 in the Niger Delta, with TotalEnergies holding 80% and local firm South Atlantic Petroleum (Sapetro) 20%.
