Total, Ørsted and Elicio team up for 600 MW French offshore wind project

French energy company Total has set up a consortium with the Danish power generation company Ørsted and the renewables player Elicio to submit a joint bid for the Dunkerque (Dunkirk) offshore wind project in the French Channel; the consortium will bid for a power capacity of up to 600 MW.

The Dunkerque offshore wind project will have a total installed capacity ranging between 250 MW and 700 MW. Ten potential developers or developing consortia were pre-selected in May 2017 and the French government officially launched the tender for the project in November 2018, following several months of delay. The winner is expected to be announced by the middle of 2019 with the goal of commissioning the wind park in 2022.

Elicio has been involved in the tender since the beginning. Total aims at developing low-carbon electricity business in Europe and Ørsted will bring its expertise across the offshore wind energy value chain.
