The Public Utilities Commissions of Idaho, Utah and Wyoming (United States) have approved PacifiCorp's wind power and transmission expansion plans in these states, under the company's Energy Vision 2020. This strategic plan includes the construction of a 225-km long power transmission line and of three wind parks with a total combined capacity of 1,150 MW in Wyoming, whose construction is scheduled to start in 2019. Once built, it will represent about a 60% expansion of PacifiCorp’s current owned and contracted wind fleet. The project already secured approval from the Wyoming Public Service Commission (WSC) in April 2018. PacifiCorp’s Energy Vision 2020 also secured support from the states of Oregon and Washington.
PacifiCorp is present in six American states and consists of two business units: Pacific Power, which is active in Oregon, Washington and California; and Rocky Mountain Power, which is active in Utah, Wyoming and Idaho. Under the framework of its long-term plan unveiled in April 2017, the company announced a US$3.5bn expansion plan up to 2020 and will build over 3 GW of additional capacity by 2036, of which 1,150 MW of wind power and 1,040 additional solar capacity to be constructed between 2028 and 2036.
