State regulator clears Duke Energy's 1.4 GW Anderson CCGT power project (US)

The Public Service Commission of South Carolina (PSCSC) has approved Duke Energy's plans to build a 1,365 MW CCGT power plant in Anderson County, South Carolina (United States) (Duke Energy, 26/03/2026). Construction is expected to begin in summer 2027 and the project would be commissioned in early 2031.

The project is consistent with the Energy Security Act enacted by South Carolina in 2025 and with Duke Energy’s near-term actions approved in the company’s Carolinas Resource Plan in 2024. The company’s electric utilities collectively serve 8.6 million customers and own over 55 GW of energy capacity across the United States.
