SJVN invites bids to develop 1.5 GW of renewable capacity across India

The Indian energy company SJVN has invited bids to select developers for the supply of 1.5 GW of power from interstate transmission system-connected renewable energy projects coupled with energy storage systems across India. The projects will de developed on a build, own operate (BOO) basis and bids can be submitted until 20 July 2023. The minimum capacity that can be offered is set at 50 MW, and the maximum is set at 750 MW, only in multiples of 10 MW. SJVN will enter a 25-year power purchase agreement with the successful bidders.

At the end of 2021, solar and wind accounted for over 20% of installed capacity in India, with respectively 49 GW and 40 GW, while hydropower capacity surpassed 51 GW. India plans to increase its non-fossil fuel capacity to 500 GW and meet 50% of its energy requirements from renewables by 2030.
