The developers of six renewable hydrogen projects in Europe, totalling a capacity of 1,442 MW, have signed their respective grant agreements, advancing them towards implementation. The selected projects are located in four European countries: Spain, Portugal, Finland and Norway.
The projects include eNRG Lahti (Finland, 90 MW), Grey2Green-II (Portugal, 200 MW), HYSENCIA (Spain, 35 MW), SKIGA (Norway, 117 MW), Catalina (Spain, 500 MW), and MP2X (Portugal, 500 MW). Altogether, the projects have the potential to produce up to 1.52 Mt of renewable hydrogen during the first ten years of their operations, offsetting emissions by more than 10 MtCO2.
In late April 2024, seven European projects were selected for EU financial support in the Innovation Fund’s pilot hydrogen auction (IF23 Auction), including the six mentioned above. The total amount of support comes to €694.5m and will be disbursed over a span of ten years. The individual grants range from €8m for the HYSENCIA project to €245m for the MP2X project.
