Signing of a grid connection agreement for the 680 MW Borssele-3/4 wind park (Netherlands)

The Blauwwind consortium has inked a grid connection agreement with the Dutch transmission system operator (TSO) TenneT for the Borssele-3 and Borssele-4 offshore wind projects (Netherlands). The deal encompasses the realization, connection, and transmission of power of the 680 MW facility.

Blauwwind won the public tender for Borssele-3 and 4 back in December 2016 with a bid of €54.50/MWh (excluding transmission costs). The Borssele-3 and 4 parks are the second stage of the Borssele complex, currently consisting of two 350 MW offshore wind parks, Borssele-1 and 2, awarded to Danish energy group Dong Energy (now Ørsted ) in July 2016. The capacity of the Borssele-3 wind park will range between 322 MW and 360 MW, while Borssele-4 is expected to range between 342 MW and 380 MW. Borssele-3 and 4 will start operating respectively in 2019 and 2020. By 2020, about 1.4 GW of offshore wind capacity are expected to be operational off Borssele.

Blauwwind is a consortium including Shell, Eneco, Van Oord, and Diamond Generating Europe (a wholly-owned subsidiary of Mitsubishi Corporation).
