Siemens won a 1 GW wind tender under YEKA's framework (Turkey)

The German company Siemens (through its affiliate Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy), Kalyon İnşaat (Turkey) and Türkerler Enerji Grubu (Turkey) have won the second tender which took place within the framework of Turkey's Renewable Energy Resources Area project (YEKA), an important step for Turkey's National Energy Strategy. 1,000 MW of wind power were slated to be available and the deadline for the proposals was set on 27 July 2017. The bid limit has been set at US$7.00/kWh and Siemens/Kalyon won the tender with a proposal of US$3.48/kWh. Both companies plan to invest about US$1bn in the facilities, which will be built across five different regions of Turkey.

Turkey is currently trying to decrease its dependence on energy imports and wants to develop wind and solar parks. In March 2017, the Turkish government also awarded a tender for the construction of a 1,000 MW solar power project in the province of Konya (central Turkey) to a consortium of Kalyon and Hanwha (South Korea). The consortium submitted the lowest bid, at US$6.99c/kWh, and was selected over three other consortia.
