The Government of Serbia has adopted a decision on the maximum offered price for electricity pertaining to its upcoming renewable auctions. The maximum offered price for power from wind parks has been set at €105/MWh, while the ceiling for solar PV plants has been set at €90/MWh.
Serbia’s Ministry of Mining and Energy intends to carry out the country’s first wind and solar PV auctions, with quotas of 400 MW and 50 MW respectively, by the end of June 2023. Serbia has approved an incentives plan for renewables for the 2023-2025 period, preparing a total of three rounds of auctions for renewables totalling 1.3 GW in capacity. Besides the first round in June, two supplementary rounds are expected to take place in the first quarters of 2024 and 2025.
In January 2023, the Serbian power utility EPS announced plans to install 4 GW of new renewable capacity over the next 15 years, in order to reach 7 GW in 2038. As of end-2021, Serbia had less than 400 MW of wind power and only 52 MW of installed solar capacity, representing less than 6% of its total capacity. The country, which commissioned its largest solar plant yet (10 MW) in April 2023, currently has 1.8 GW of solar and 5.5 GW of wind capacity under development.
