Serbia launches its second renewable auction, aiming to procure 425 MW

Serbia’s Ministry of Energy and Mining has launched a new renewable auction, which aims to procure 300 MW of wind capacity and 124.8 MW of solar capacity. This is the country’s second renewable auction, and is organised with the support of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD).

The wind and solar PV projects will be supported through a contract-for-difference (CfD) scheme for 15 years. The approved maximum bid prices are €79/MWh for wind and €72/MWh for solar PV. Eligible are wind power projects with an approved capacity of at least 3 MW and solar power facilities of 500 kW and above. Bids can be submitted until 5 February 2025.

This tender is the second round in Serbia’s three-year auction plan seeking to develop 1.3 GW of renewable capacity (1 GW of wind and 300 MW of solar). Serbia’s first renewable auction was launched in June 2023 and sought to award 400 MW of wind and 50 MW of solar, at a price of €105/MWh for wind and €90/MWh for solar.
