SECI launches tender for 2 GW of solar projects across India

The Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) has invited bids to set up 2 GW of inter-state transmission system-connected solar power projects across India, in the context of the country’s Tranche XI tenders. Bids can be submitted until 10 May 2023 and successful bidders will enter a 25-year power purchase agreement with SECI. Bidders can only submit one bid. The minimum contracted capacity is set at 50 MW, while the maximum is set at the whole 2 GW. Bids must be quoted in multiples of 10 MW only.

At the end of 2021, solar and wind accounted for over 20% of installed capacity in India, with respectively 49 GW and 40 GW, while hydropower capacity surpassed 51 GW. India plans to increase its non-fossil fuel capacity to 500 GW and meet 50% of its energy requirements from renewables by 2030.
