Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) has launched bids across India for the supply of 2.25 GW of round-the-clock power from ISTS-connected (interstate transmission system) renewable power projects, complemented with power from any other source or storage in the country.
Bids can be submitted until 10 October 2022 and will be opened on 13 October 2022. Bidders must submit INR1.5m (US$18,790) as a bid processing fee for each project and INR1.23m (US$15,358) as a deposit. Successful bidders will provide INR1.84m/MW (US$23,037/MW) as a performance bank guarantee.
SECI will enter into a power purchase agreement (PPA) with the successful bidders for a duration of 25 years. The projects can be located anywhere on the Indian territory and the developer will be responsible for the installation, operation and maintenance of the renewable projects. Complementary non-renewable projects will include power plants that are already, partly or fully, commissioned before the issuance of the request for selection.
In July 2022, SECI awarded 2.4 GW of wind-solar hybrid projects (1.2 GW) and wind projects (1.2 GW) to developers including NTPC and Tata Power.
In 2021, solar and wind accounted for nearly 20% of installed capacity in India, with respectively 49 GW and 40 GW. The country aims to develop 175 GW of renewable capacity by the end of 2022, including 100 GW of solar.
