SECI invites bids to develop up to 2.1 GW of wind capacity in three Indian States

The Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) has launched a tender to procure 1,350 MW of inter-state transmission system (ISTS)-connected wind power projects, with a 700 MW greenshoe option, to be developed in three Indian States. The projects will be located in Gujarat (1 GW + 500 MW greenshoe), Karnataka (250 MW + 150 MW), and Rajasthan (100 MW + 50 MW).

Bids can be submitted until 10 January 2024 and SECI will enter into a 25-year power purchase agreement (PPA) with the selected bidders.  Companies must present a bid encompassing a minimum contracted capacity of 50 MW and a maximum of 650 MW.

At the end of 2022, solar and wind accounted for 22% of installed capacity in India, with respectively 63 GW and 42 GW, while hydropower capacity surpassed 51 GW. India plans to increase its non-fossil fuel capacity to 500 GW.
