The Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) has invited bids to set up 1.5 GW of inter-state transmission system-connected renewable projects across India. The scope includes both land and connectivity and will be awarded through tariff-based competitive bidding. Bids must be submitted by 15 September 2023. Bidders are required to submit a single bid, including their parent companies and affiliates, and must offer a minimum cumulative capacity of 50 MW and a maximum of 750 MW, quoted in multiples of 10 MW.
At the end of 2021, solar and wind accounted for over 20% of installed capacity in India, with respectively 49 GW and 40 GW, while hydropower capacity surpassed 51 GW. India plans to increase its non-fossil fuel capacity to 500 GW and meet 50% of its energy requirements from renewables by 2030.
