SECI invites bids for 1.2 GW of wind and solar hybrid projects in India

The Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) has invited bids to develop 1.2 GW of interstate transmission system-connected wind and solar hybrid projects with energy storage and assured peak power supply across India.

Each project will have a minimum capacity of 50 MW, while the maximum capacity that can be allotted to a bidder is the whole 1.2 GW. For every 100 MW of project capacity, a required energy storage system with a minimum capacity of 100 MWh must be installed.

Bids can be submitted until 12 December 2022 and will be opened on 15 December 2022. The bid processing fees are set at INR500,000 (US$6,000) for projects between 50 and 99 MW and INR1.5m (US$18,100) for projects reaching 100 MW or above. Interested bidders will have to provide a deposit of INR1.22m/MW/project (US$14,700) and selected bidders will remit INR1.83m/MW/project (US$22,000) as a performance bank guarantee. The projects must be commissioned within 2 years from the effective date of the power purchase agreement.

In May 2022, SECI also invited bids for 2.4 GW of wind-solar hybrid projects and wind projects, which were notably awarded to NTPC Renewable Energy and Tata Power in July 2022.
