Falck Renewables and BlueFloat Energy have signed option agreements on their two successful bids in the ScotWind offshore leasing round in Scotland (United Kingdom). The site east of Aberdeen in Plan Option E1 will be known as Bellrock with the site north of Fraserburgh in Plan Option NE6 called Broadshore. In addition, Falck Renewables, BlueFloat Energy and Ørsted have also signed an option agreement on a site east of Caithness in Plan Option N3, which will be known as Stromar. The three areas could host a total offshore wind capacity of around 3 GW, with the projects scheduled to be operational by 2030, subject to securing consent, commercial arrangements and grid connections.
Similarly, the joint venture partners of the West of Orkney offshore wind project, namely Corio Generation, TotalEnergies and RIDG, have signed their option to lease agreement with Crown Estate Scotland, after securing rights to develop the 2 GW project in the ScotWind leasing round. The project will be located 30 km off the west coast of Orkney in Scotland. First power is expected in 2029 and full operations in 2030.
