Saudi Arabia prequalifies 60 companies for 1.5 GW solar PV round

Saudi Arabia’s Renewable Energy Project Development Office (REPDO) has pre-qualified 60 bidders for the second round of the Saudi Arabia National Renewable Energy Program (NREP). Masdar, Acciona, Akuo Energy, China Machinery Engineering Corp., ACWA Power, EDF, First Solar, GCL, KEPCO, Marubeni, Sumitomo, TBEA and Total were among the shortlisted companies.

In January 2019, the REPDO launched this second round, seeking Expressions of Interest (EOIs) for seven solar PV with a combined capacity of 1,515 MW and requiring around US$1.51bn in investments. The solar PV projects included 600 MW Alfaisaliah, 300 MW Rabigh, 300 MW Jeddah, 200 MW Qurrayat, 50 MW Madinah, 45 MW Rafha, and 20 MW Mahad Duhab.
