RWE will participate in the Dutch HKW offshore wind tender

RWE will participate in the Dutch offshore wind tender for both Hollandse Kust West (HKW) sites VI and VII. These sites, located 53 km from the Dutch coast in the North Sea, will each represent more than 760 MW of offshore wind capacity, contributing to the Dutch government’s target of reaching 21 GW of installed offshore wind capacities by 2030. For HKW VII, RWE proposes including a 600 MW electrolyser capacity onshore with access to storage capacity in the planned onshore hydrogen backbone.

Various other companies have made bids for the two leases, notably Vattenfall (partnered with BASF), SSE Renewables (in a joint bid with Brookfield), BP and Shell, and recently TotalEnergies and Ørsted. The decision on who wins the tender will be announced in the second semester of 2022.
