RUVNL invites bids for 1.5 GW of wind-solar hybrid projects across India

The Indian company Rajasthan Urja Vikas Nigam Ltd (RUVNL) has invited bids to set up 1.5 GW of interstate transmission system-connected wind-solar hybrid power projects anywhere in India, with required storage for distribution companies. The projects will have mandatory energy storage systems of at least 1 MW for each contracted capacity of 1 MW and must deliver 4 MWh/day to RUVNL. Bids can be submitted until 28 February 2023 and RUVNL will enter into a 25-year power purchase agreement (PPA) with the selected bidders. The projects must be commissioned within 2 years from the date of the signing of the PPA.

Earlier in January 2023, RUVNL launched another tender to develop 1 GW of solar PV projects across the state of Rajasthan.

At the end of 2021, solar and wind accounted for over 20% of installed capacity in India, with respectively 49 GW and 40 GW, while hydropower capacity surpassed 51 GW. India plans to increase its non-fossil fuel capacity to 500 GW and meet 50% of its energy requirements from renewables by 2030.
