The Indian company Rajasthan Urja Vikas Nigam Limited (RUVNL) has invited bids to develop 1.2 GW of solar power projects across India including an energy storage system with a committed supply for a minimum of six hours during peak demand periods. Bids can be submitted until 17 April 2023 and will be opened on 20 April 2023.
A single bid should cover a minimum of 50 MW capacity, with the maximum being the full 1.2 GW capacity. The developers must supply energy corresponding to a maximum of 3 MWh per 1 MW of the contracted capacity daily during peak hours. Successful bidders will enter a 25-year power purchase agreement (PPA) with RUVNL.
Since the beginning of 2023, RUVNL has already invited bids for 1 GW of solar PV projects and 1.5 GW of solar-wind hybrid projects.
At the end of 2021, solar and wind accounted for over 20% of installed capacity in India, with respectively 49 GW and 40 GW, while hydropower capacity surpassed 51 GW. India plans to increase its non-fossil fuel capacity to 500 GW and meet 50% of its energy requirements from renewables by 2030.
