The Indian renewable energy company ReNew has commissioned an interstate transmission scheme project in the Indian State of Karnataka, which will allow the evacuation of 1.5 GW of renewable energy from the Koppal area. The Koppal Transmission Scheme, awarded in 2022, covers the construction of a new 400/220 kV sub-station at Koppal along with 276 km, 400-kV direct current transmission line.
The Koppal Transmission Scheme is the first of the three projects to be executed by ReNew in Karnataka, which will cumulatively help in the evacuation of 5 GW of wind and solar power in the State. ReNew anticipates completing the remaining transmission for 3.5 GW by June 2024.
