RECPDCL launches ISTS tender to evacuate 20 GW of renewables (India)

REC Power Development and Consultancy Ltd (RECPDCL) has launched a tender to develop an interstate transmission system (ISTS) to augment the Bhadla-III, Ramgarh pooling station, and Kanpur substation to evacuate 20 GW of renewable power in Rajasthan, India (RER Power press release, 25/03/2026). 

The awarded bid will establish, operate and maintain the project on a build, own, operate, and transfer basis (BOOT) basis. The project should be put in commercial operations before 20 January 2029. The transmission service provider will be able to operate the assets for 35 years, after which the developer will transfer all the project assets to the Central Transmission Utility (CTU)

According to India’s National Electricity Plan 2022 (NEP 2022), the country expects to develop 190,000 km of transmission lines and 1,270 GVA of transformation capacity across the country to support the 600 GW of renewable capacity planned by 2032.
