RECPDCL issues tenders to develop 18 GW of power grid in Gujarat (India)

The Indian company REC Power Development and Consultancy Limited (RECPDCL) has issued four global tenders to build interstate transmission systems (ISTS) at the Khavda pooling station in the Gujarat state (north-western India), including the 765 kV Khavda Pooling Station 2 – Lakadia – Ahmedabad – South Gujarat/Navsari line. The transmission infrastructure, which will be developed on a “build, own, operate and transfer” (BOOT) basis, is set to evacuate 18 GW of renewable energy (under four 4.5 GW tenders). A fifth tender has been floated to expand the transmission network in Gujarat with the integration of renewable energy projects at the Khavda renewable energy zone.  Bids can be submitted online for the tenders until 8 July 2022 and will be opened the same day. The projects must be completed within 24 months.

In February 2022, RECPDCL had already issued global tenders to build two ISTS projects on a BOOT basis to evacuate 21.5 GW of renewable energy.
