PTC India’s 1 GW renewable tender draws over 3.5 GW of supply offers (India)

The Indian power trading firm PTC India has received supply offers for over 3.5 GW of renewable energy, following a call for expressions of interest in which PTC India had only requested 1 GW of solar and wind capacity procurement through market-linked products.

Fourteen renewable energy producers have submitted offers, ranging from 100 MW to 500 MW, including Tata Power Renewable Energy Torrent Power, Enel Green and Engie. The proposed projects are mainly located in the Indian states of Rajasthan, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh and Karnataka. The developers have offered to commission the projects within a period of 18 to 24 months. PTC India announced it will evaluate the offers and make a decision on the procurement in the coming month.

The 500 MW plus 500 MW greenshoe option tender was part of phase 1 of PTC India’s plan to procure renewable energy for trading onwards. The tender was launched late September 2022.
