PSPCL and JDVVNL invite bids to develop 2.12 GW of solar capacity in India

The Indian company Punjab State Power Corporation Ltd. (PSPCL) has launched a tender to procure 1 GW of solar power from interstate transmission system (ISTS)-connected projects to be developed across India. Bids can be submitted until 31 October 2023 and PSPCL will enter a 25-year power purchase agreement (PPA) with the selected bidders.

In addition, India’s Jodhpur Vidyut Vitran Nigam Ltd. (JDVVNL) has launched eight tenders to install and commission 415 grid-connected solar power projects, totalling a capacity of 1,123 MW, in various subdivisions of the Bikaner district, in the Indian State of Rajasthan. The selected developers will oversee the projects’ operation and maintenance for a duration of 25 years, as they will enter a 25-year PPA with the company Rajasthan Urja Vikas Nigam Ltd (RUVNL).

At the end of 2022, solar and wind accounted for 22% of installed capacity in India, with respectively 63 GW and 42 GW, while hydropower capacity surpassed 51 GW. India plans to increase its non-fossil fuel capacity to 500 GW and meet 50% of its energy requirements from renewables by 2030.
