Powergrid wins an 8.1 GW power transmission project in Rajasthan (India)

Powergrid Corporation of India Ltd (PGCIL) has been awarded three interstate transmission system projects, including a transmission project to evacuate 8.1 GW of power from solar energy zones in Rajasthan (western India), in a tariff-based competitive bidding process. Powergrid won the transmission project in Rajasthan under Phase-II Part E on a build, own, operate and maintain (BOOM) basis. The project involves building a 765 kV direct current transmission line across the state, along with associated line bays.

Powergrid was also awarded two additional interstate transmission system projects in the Chhattisgarh state (central India), granted under India’s Western Region Expansion Scheme (WRES). The first project implies the construction of a 400 kV direct current transmission line and bays extension works at two substations. The second project comprises bays extension works and the creation of 220 kV voltage at two substations.
