Poland launches first offshore wind auction offering up to 4 GW of capacity

The Polish energy regulator (Urząd Regulacji Energetyki, URE) has launched Poland’s first competitive offshore wind auction for up to 4 GW of capacity, according to a statement from the regulator. The auction offers developers 25-year contracts with fixed prices ranging from PLN486/MWh to PLN512/MWh (€115-122/MWh).

Polish utility PGE, refiner Orlen, and a consortium of Polenergia and Equinor are among the companies expected to bid according to Reuters (17/12/2025). The auction rules require a minimum of three bidders and cap awards at 90% of the offered capacity in order to ensure competition.

Poland plans to hold similar auctions every two years until 2031.
