The Polish Energy Regulatory Office (URE) has awarded 1.3 GW of wind and solar capacity in its latest round of renewables auctions that took place in December 2021, including 870 MW of solar and 460 MW of onshore wind. The country planned to award contracts for 18.5 TWh of electricity for a total value of PLN8.6bn (€1.9bn) but ended with 14 TWh at a value of PLN3.2bn (€700bn). The auction for projects larger than 1 MW attracted 66 producers that submitted 89 bids and closed with 570 MW of solar and 460 MW of wind; the lowest price achieved for solar was PLN207.9/MWh (€45.4/MWh) and 139.6/MWh (€30.5/MWh) for wind. In addition, the auction for solar and wind plants up to 1 MW had 182 participants submitting 401 bids, all for solar projects with a minimum price of PLN219/MWh (€47.9/MWh) and a maximum price of 278.9/MWh (€61/MWh). The tender is expected to result in the construction of 300 MW of solar PV projects.
