Peru completes its 2021-2030 Transmission Plan with a US$2300m investment

Peru has awarded contracts for the transmission projects “Enlace 500 kV Huánuco-Tocache-Celendín-Trujillo” and the “Enlace 500 kV Celendín-Piura” to the Colombian company Interconexion Electrica (ISA). The combined value of these two contracts is US$607m for the construction of over 1000km of 500 kV high-tension lines spanning seven regions of the Latin American nation. In addition, US$83.5m is allocated for the total annual operation and maintenance costs over a 30-year period.

With the assignment of these projects, the Peruvian government has now awarded 14 projects in 2023, totalling an investment of around US$2300m—surpassing last year's figures and concluding the 2021-2030 Transmission Plan. The set target for 2024 is to exceed the historical maximum of US$6500m with an ambitious aim of US$8000m, encompassing six high-impact projects in the first quarter of the year.
