Peru awards power transmission projects in tender worth over USD$140m

The Private Investment Promotion Agency of Peru (ProInversión) has awarded a total of five electricity transmission projects for the cities of Piura, San Martin, Arequipa and Lambayeque.

Three projects were secured by Colombia's ISA (Interconexión Eléctrica), including the 500 kV San Jose-Yarabamba line, the 220 kV Piura Nueva-Colan line and the 220 kV Belaunde Terry-Tarapoto Norte line, under a 30-year concession period for a total investment of around USD$87m. Work comprises the construction of new transmission lines and two substations. With this award, ISA now has a total of 13 transmission projects in Peru, enabling it to move ahead with its 2023 strategic investment plan to achieve a 14% share of Peru's electricity business.

Brazilian utility Alupar, through its subsidiary Alupar Inversiones Peru, won two transmission projects, including the ITC SE Lambayeque Norte 220 kV line and the Piura Este 220/60/22.9 kV substation with a total bid of around USD$33m.
